    Daisy Walker

    June 25, 1951 - April 18, 2022

Daisy Lee Walker crossed peacefully into eternity at the Saint Luke’s Hospice Care with her sister by her side. Daisy was born June 25, 1951 to the union of Mr. David L. Walker and Mrs. Mamie L. Walker in Texarkana, Arkansas. She attended school in Arkansas and Kansas City, Missouri. Daisy worked most of her life as a childcare provider and a community volunteer. Daisy attended Manual High School in Kansas City, MO and completed her General Education Diploma while successfully attending Job Corps. She dedicated most of her life as a servant to the community that she loved so dearly. Daisy was loved by her family and friends. She was known for hosting family dinners and social gatherings with her friends. Daisy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a devoted member of the Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church located in Kansas City, Kansas. As a civil servant, Daisy received a plethora of accolades throughout her life. Her awards include being the Outstanding Volunteer multiple years for the Economic Opportunity Foundation, Inc. and Forest Glen Estates, Inc., obtaining her Associate in Applied Science degree in 1997, receiving the High Standard of Excellence in Geriatrics, and being recognized for her continued dedication in serving as a Board of Trustee for the Economic Opportunity Foundation, Inc. Daisy was highly revered by her professors who recommended her for several scholarships. Perhaps her greatest accolade was receiving the Kansas City, Kansas Chamber of Commerce Scholarship which allowed her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in elementary education at Saint Mary College. Daisy loved to travel the country sightseeing and representing the state of Kansas while promoting economic development in Kansas City, Kansas. Daisy enjoyed listening to music, talking with family and friends, and planning for the holidays. She was excellent at creating crafts for children and decorating her home. Everyone loved Daisy’s famous peach cobbler. Daisy’s parents, sisters: Esther, Martha, and Mary, and her brother: Jerry Walker Sr., and her daughter, LaCarol Walker preceded her in death. Her sisters, Esther Walker, Martha Butler, and Mary Young as well as her brother, Jerry Walker, all preceded Daisy in death. Daisy is survived by her grandson, Daviun Deron Goldsmith Walker, sisters, Melba Walker, Bonnie Walker, Rosemary Onwuemegbulem, and Polly Harrington; and her brothers: Jimmie James and Lee Benton. Her legacy will be cherished by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.
