Leonard Roy Smith July 15, 1946 – June 22, 2022 Leonard Roy Smith, 75, was born on July 15, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri, to the union Wilson Smith, Sr. and Roberta (Ervin) Smith. Leonard was called home on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, in Kansas City, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Leonard Smith I and Leonard Smith II; six brothers: Wilson A. Smith, Jr., Willie Smith, Lonnie Smith, Bennie Smith, Melvin Smith and Charles Smith; one sister, Lottie Smith and his first granddaughter, Renita Thompson. Leonard attended and graduated from Lincoln High School. He worked as a Welder for over 25 years, and as a Mechanic for over 20 years. He attended St. Andrews United Methodist Baptist Church. Leonard was a family-oriented man, who loved getting together with his children and grandchildren, having barbecues. He also loved going to the casino for fun. Leonard was a respectable and honorable man that help anyone in need, no matter what. He was a mentor and father figure to anyone who came into his life. We will miss him dearly. Leonard’s legacy will forever live on and be cherished by: his daughters: Michelle Rowe (Kevin), Louise Carpenter (Jawann), Patrice Meade (Lonnie), Mechell Thomas, and Micaiesha Toombs; his sons: Leonard Smith III (Careshun), Martiez Toombs, Marquiel Toombs, and Michael Toombs; his brother, Calvin Smith (Deborah); her sisters: Geraldine Baker (William), Betty Boykins, Barbara Smith- Johnson, Mary Jones, Leslie Howard, Faye Whitcomb (Oscar) and Ruby Hammock (Herb); a special nephew, Abdul Fields, who he looked at as his son; 31 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving family and friends.
